The reserved date will be confirmed bindingly and definitely by the registry office after the legally prescribed marriage preparation procedure has been completed. After the marriage preparation has been completed, the marriage ceremony can take place after 3 months at the latest (Art. 100 Para. 1 ZGB). The registry office rejects any liability for any expenses already made or other bookings that are connected to the desired date. This must be taken into account when preparing the wedding. In addition, there is no right to a refund of the deposit made if the bride and groom cancels the reserved wedding date.
Attention: It is generally possible to book a wedding at short notice. For organizational reasons, however, we cannot guarantee that the wedding ceremony will actually take place on the desired date. It is therefore recommended that you arrange a short-term marriage in advance by telephone with the civil registry office in Lucerne.
To be able to prepare for marriage, you must be entered in the Swiss civil status register. Swiss citizens are already registered. Foreign nationals are generally registered if a civil status event from 2005 onwards was notarized for them in Switzerland. If registration is required, domestic documents must be submitted.
